SUMMER session 2009

Professor: Dr. Alessandro Grippo, Ph.D.

GEOL 1 - PHYSICAL GEOLOGYLast Updated  •  April 2, 2010

This is a general education class that introduces the students to a basic knowledge of geology. Starting from the broad concepts of the theory of plate tectonics, we will quickly move to the study of minerals and rocks, and then to the analysis of the physical environments where these rocks are found.

The class will be accessible to anyone with a basic knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology. Still, during an intense, fast-paced session such as this 6-weeks Summer course, you will need to pay constant attention to the materials discussed in class and dedicate a considerable amount of time to study and work with the class materials.
