SUMMER session 2009 Professor: Dr. Alessandro Grippo, Ph.D.   GEOL 1 - PHYSICAL GEOLOGY Last Updated  •  April 2, 2010    This is a general education class that introduces the students to a basic knowledge of geology. Starting from the broad concepts of the theory of plate tectonics, we will quickly move to the study of minerals and rocks, and then to the analysis of the physical environments where these rocks are found. The class will be accessible to anyone with a basic knowledge of physics, chemistry, and biology.
